Drever
The Drever originated in Sweden, specifically bred for tracking deer. This breed is known for its keen sense of smell and strong hunting instincts, making it popular among hunters in Scandinavian countries. The breed is a cross between various types of hounds and has been recognized as a distinct breed since the mid-20th century.
Drevers have a short, dense coat that is weather-resistant. Common coat colors include various shades of brown, black, and tan, often with white markings. The coat is relatively easy to maintain with regular brushing.
Drevers are medium-sized dogs. They typically weigh between 30 to 40 pounds (14 to 18 kg) and stand about 10 to 14 inches (25 to 36 cm) tall at the shoulder.
Drevers are known for their friendly and affectionate nature. They are good with families and can be sociable with other dogs. They are intelligent, eager to please, and can be somewhat stubborn, making training an important aspect of their upbringing.
Due to their hunting background, Drevers excel in activities like tracking, agility, and obedience training. They enjoy long walks, running, and interactive playtime with their owners. Engaging them in scent work or other dog sports can be especially fulfilling.
